Dr. Daniel Dao works as a Research Fellow at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, The University of Oxford; a Research Economist (Consultant) at the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), The World Bank, and a University Professor (Financial Economics) at Regent’s University London. He is a CFA Charterholder and an active member of the CFA UK. Previously, he worked for The University of Strathclyde (Research Associate) and Queen Mary University of London (Associate Lecturer). He has earned a PhD (2024) from Coventry University, UK, and an MBA (2017) from Bangor University, UK. 

His research expertise lies in the fields of Climate and Sustainable Finance; AI, Fintech, and Innovation; Entrepreneurial Finance; Financial Economics. Daniel has published in world-leading journals (ABS-4/4*), including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Risk Analysis, British Journal of Management, among others. He has also served as a reviewer for several highly ranked journals, including The European Journal of Finance, Information and Management, Energy Economics, International Journal of Finance and Economics, among others.

Beyond academic outputs, he is deeply involved in research translation and collaborative activities, bridging the gap between academia and industry. His work includes authoring practical and industry-focused publications, such as blogs on AI and financial regulations, financial risk management, and anti-greenwashing regulations, featured in the Fintech Scotland Blog Series. He has also contributed white papers on ESG greenwashing, ESG risk management, and AI applications. In addition, he has delivered numerous talks, webinars, and roundtable discussions with industry partners, including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Tesco Bank, Lloyds Banking Group, and EY, fostering impactful collaborations. As a Research Economist (Consultant) at The World Bank, he has authored publications with significant policy implications, including key reports such as the World Development Report 2024; working paper on labor, growth, and policy reforms; the Dominican Republic Country Memorandum 2023.

He is actively engaged in teaching, supervising, and marking modules in financial economics at prestigious universities, including University of Oxford, University College London – UCL, Queen Mary University of London, Regent’s University London, Coventry University, Vietnam National University, among others.
